I just got back from Hobby Lobby. O'Rielly's, and Finger nail salon and Autozone and no one paint pens. Closest was hobby lobby with little bottles of paint
Hot Topic at the mall has silver finger nail polish but no chrome.
    AZ has 1/8" chrome tape.
I am still holding out for a paint pen,.
That seems like the way I will have the most success

Wal-marts has the pens in the craft section. Michaels will have them as well.

I never thought of W-M. I'm there tonight or tomorrow
I'm masking the chrome part even as we speak.

Testors makes the paint pens I have used with great results. I'm surprised you had trouble finding them. They are in most good stores here.

Here is a picture you can take to the store ........... sometimes pictures help the clerks as they never know what you are asking them ......... :biglaugh:

FWIW, I tried the paint pens first, no luck at all. Made a complete mess, had to swab it all off with lacquer thinner (on a freshly painted cluster!), luckily it was catalyzed and did no damage to the paint. The striping tape is easy, cheap and looks good. Good luck with your painting, post up some pix when you're done...

The paint pen worked awesome for me. I even used one to update the needles in my Mustang Cluster. The factory needles are all black at the base. I took a silver paint pen and carefully added the silver trim around the base of all the needles ....

Wow - good info. I need to do this to my '73. It's been painted black and the chrome has been eliminated in the process.

    Looks very professional Dan!
I've had great success detailing with those paint pens too. One thing I have found is you must shake the hell out of them so the paint gets mixed as they will separate. If you try and paint when it is not mixed well it comes out all thin and runny.

thanksThe pen came from Wal-Mart. It is a Martha Stewart Metallic marker. ...Silver
Very easy to use. I just need to go just a bit slower so as not to have to touch up the black again

Looks like I could use one of those paint pens on the chrome trim on my door panels. Or should I say former chrome trim, most of the chrome has peeled off :rofl2:
