That is interesting. I personally would think column shift vs floor shift would matter.

My personal preference for an original Grabber would be in this order:
    V8 Floor shift manual
    V8 Floor shift Automatic
    V8 Column shift manual
    V8 Column shift automatic

    just my :2cents:

I agree with Eric other than I think 3 on the tree should have been reserved for trucks.

I think manuals will always go for more. Look around at Mustangs, Camaros, 4/5 spds. always bring more money. Even with the late model stuff this is true. It's performance oriented.

    Floor shift Automatic
    Column shift automatic

Why did they even invest in having such an option? Is a 3 on the tree that much cheaper than a 3 on the floor? Seems like extra overhead for no reason.

    The only reason...

...that I can think of is bench seats don't allow enough clearance for floor shift.
I think it was a left over from the '60s thing.

That 72 Grabber parts car I bought last summer was a factory floor shift 3 speed with a bench seat. So they do fit and came that way from the factory.

Column must have been cheaper to make, cause it was the base transmission .....

    Lot's of great info.

I'd prefer to have a true GT or Grabber over a clone, and honestly I prefer the GT look over the grabber. I'm a huge early 70's "E" body Mopar fan, and the GT sort of has that look (at glance) more so than the Grabber, but really I like them both nearly the same. Most importantly though, I want something authentic. Something that is what it says. I'm not one to throw cobra badges on a mustang GT, or Eliminator stripes on an XR7. I like the real thing, and real Comet GT's, or Grabbers are a rare sight.

Does anyone know production numbers for the GT/Grabber (small bumper cars)?

I'd also prefer a manual on the floor. I consider these cars somewhat of a muscle car (thoughts on this?), and a stickshift is the only way to go IMO. Manual with a bench seat is always my odd favorite, but I'll take one either way.

And I agree, the big money, and big value the mustangs, and every other "muscle car" has seen, it's pushed the regular working man to look at other, more affordable variants like the GT/Grabber, Dusters, AMX's, Cougars, Torinos, etc (some quickly becoming high dollar as well). The lower level cars as far as popularity and demand. Still cool in their own right, but not in the spotlight. I'll admit, it's nice to see something like these at car shows after walking the rows of cookie cutter mustangs. I'll walk right past a whole row of fastback stangs to look at a Torino GT, or Comet or mav any day of the week.

I need to fill this void of selling one of the coolest and rare muscle cars on the planet for what is now far less than market value (in reference to the Boss Cat in my sig).

Interesting ... I thought I had seen notes in the sales brochures indicating floor shifters were only available with buckets seats ...

I have also seen several factory floor shift manual tranny bench seat cars....including a 4-door Maverick/Comet.
