I agree completely. I'd say that's the more accurate 411.

My son and I have gone through this with the Cougars, which they made fewer of than the Mavericks. 5 years ago, you could buy a decent parts car for $300-400 and pick it to the bone and get a lot of good resaleble parts. My son made over $8,000 his Senior year in high school selling parts on Ebay this way. He has since made enough selling parts on Ebay to almost concours finish a '69 big block/4 spd Mach 1. He is currently a Senior at UF. However, now the cars are not there and the parts are scarce and expensive to buy. Even though they made more Mavericks, less have been saved over the years. The same thing will eventually hit here.

When you take on a project, expect to have to get parts from at least 2 or 3 other cars to complete it. That is in addition to what new parts you are able to buy. If you have storage available, it would be wise to grab decent shape cars, strip them, and wait. The market will catch up with you.

Ebay is a great source for selling and buying. However, a forum like this is great because it is friends helping friends. I have given away many parts in the past to help people that I have come to know through sources such as this one here. One of the reasons for having a forum like this is to help others who have a common interest and bond. Money is important, sure, but if money is the only reason you are doing it, don't even bother coming to a forum like this and go straight to Ebay. This place is friends helping friends, not the regular marketplace. Why have places like this if you are in it just for the buck?

I just threw it out there for the people that would buy it for $75 and hang onto it. I would have thought they would have all jumped on it already. I mean, kinda stupid to wait if you feel it's worth $75 but know it will go higher. It's a no lose situation, if the set their bid at $75. If it goes higher it costs them nothing, if it doesn't then they got a deal of the century from what I understand.

Yeah......the real experienced ebayers don't bid until the last minute....that is when the fun starts. :D

Lots of good points here. I think I have been in all of the situations mentioned at one point or another. I weigh prices of parts against how bad I want them vs. how much time and money would it cost me to fab something else that would work the same. Not everyone can just fab something up, so my price point tends to be a little lower than the normal weekend car guy. Still....$200 is not much for a bolt in set of pedals if that is the only thing standing in the way of getting stuff done (especially for a car that hasn't been made for 30 years). Don't have $200? Go mow someone's lawn or gather up a bunch of junk from around the house and hit the local flea market or list unused junk in the free classifieds paper.

I have found that all '73 and up Mavericks (without power brakes) have the pedal bracket that is compatible with the clutch pedals (has the bushings instead of the bolt). That is a VERY easy part to find.

I'm still only interested in the entire assemblies. See if you can find five more at $16.16 each! (y)

If I came across 5 more sets, I would keep them myself and resell them to people who actually need them at what I think is a fair price.

Looks like the market price is $57, set by Craig Selvey, the winner of the auction.

But that is just for the PEDALS. We will see what all is missing to get them mounted in the bracket so they are actually useable.

So if they sold on here, there should be a 20% discount right? Making the selling price $47??? (y)
