I have pulled a few steering wheels off my Mavs and have never had a problem or needed a special tool.

I guess its just luck of the draw.

I have never needed any tools either. I pull the nut off to within a couple threads of completely off, grab the wheel, and just wiggle and pull, and it pops right off.

I have an extra 3-armed bearing puller....is this the same thing? If so, I will send him the extra one.

I have seen those...pretty cheap, I will pick one up for him and send him that bearing puller as well. Never know when you might need one.

    sreering wheel puller

:clap:heyfrend start by sitting in the driver seat next put one knee on each side of the steering post loosen the nut till it is flush with the shaft now hold the wheel with your left hand at about 11:00 oclock and pull up as hard as you can at the same time push up hard with both knees under the wheel at about 5:00 and 7:00 oclock then hit the end of the shaft with a big hammer and keep the pressure on the wheel as hard as you can muster be sure to hit the shaft flat on the end i have done this many times it will work good luck backburnerharry@msn.com:dancing:

Thank you all for the various input and help, got so frustrated in the end that I grabbed it with every inch of my body and pulled and screamed pulled and screamed and it ended up in my chest...

Finally got a hazard flasher in place and completely restored horn assembly (pulled some stuff from a mustang horn pad and it fitted great)!!!!!!

    You are the best!!!!!!

(will use a puller next time so I don“t mess anything up)

    Robert.

You probably won't need a puller next time, now that you have taken it off and loosened it up. Of course, it helps to leave the big nut on a couple threads so it doesn't end up in your chest.
