Hello, First, I am trying to get a picture of both horn locations for my 1970 Maverick. I have one on the driver's side and that is it. Near the windshield washer reservoir. Is there another one or is their just one. Second, I am trying to get it to work. I found some information on the horn relay that talks about the headlight switch or near the fuse box? I going to replace the turn signal switch as it is well worn and filthy. I am going to run some electrical checks, but currently there is no power on the wire to the horn in the engine compartment. As with many old cars there was some "tom-foolery" under the dash. Everything works except for the horn. Rob
Not sure about a 70, but I have had a 72 and 75. Both had the single anemic horn next to the washer reservoir. The horn is grounded through its' mount. Are you getting power at the horn button switch? There will be no power to the horn wire unless the horn button is depressed. Once you get the power problem solved, you may want to consider moving the horn to the front of the radiator support and use a jumper wire to connect a secondary Hi or Lo horn. It makes a huge difference.
There was a Ford option for two horns, High and Low. I found it while digging through the parts book. Sold as a kit. Both mounted by the washer reservoir. I think there is an indentation in the metal for mounting the second horn. I have two. Micah
Micah, My Maverick was an "el strippo". 170 or 200 six and three on the tree. Engine code "U". Now has the 302, C4, and a floor shifter. Doubt if had a radio either! That is why I asked about the radio location. Prior installed an aftermarket radio in the center and butchered a hole in the back of the shelf! I ripped that out and now have a stock bezel and stock radio. Even the rear support. I will look for the indentations for the second horn. I have looked and they did not jump out at me. Can you post a picture? Rob
