hooker 6901's hit the chassis on my '71

    mine hit the pitman arm, and bad, no way to fudge it either, and as far as I know the car has never been wrecked, everything else fits right, but not the damn headers

    Even if it hasn't been wrecked, it could still be sagging...we are talking 30 year here, on crappy thin sheet metal.

    There is an article in this month's Hot Rod, or one of those magazines, about re-straightening out our shock towers, just from sag over time.

    The arm on my manual steering also hits during an extreme right turn, gotta hammer that tube in a bit as well.

    well now that I think about it every car I ever put headers on were also full framed , sagging is alot more of an issue with unibodies and I guess a heavy V8 doesnt help either.

    anyone know what the measurement should be between the shock towers?

    Optimal measurements would be wide enough for the V8, and space on both sides to stick your hand in there :D

    i have hookers in my 71 mav and i have no rubbing or touching issues at all.

    is the engine mounted a little off?
