here's a picture of my problem, the car is level on the ground, i tried rocking it, tried loosing trans mount bolts to see if it would move no luck, is that enough? on the frame mounts, they had a tab in the middle of the mount, does that go on the top side of the frame mount or the bottom?
I just looked at my 4dr. and my 2dr. and they both have about 1 and a half inches of the yoke showing(it would go in about 1 and a half inches before bottoming).
I think in '74. My '74 Grabber had one, neither of my 73's do. This is how far the driveshaft on my Grabber used to stick out. I thought it was to long also, but I put over 6,000 miles on the car with it like that.. I'm haveing the opposite problem with my 69 1/2. I have the drive shaft from a '73 250/C4 car in it and it seems to be about an inch and a half to long. I'm hopeing the 8 inch rear swap and getting rid of the shackles will correct it.
With the driveshaft in the transmission like that. Make a line on it where it sticks out. Pull it back out and measure how far it goes in. It seems to be real close as to whether it will work or not tho but I think you may be fine.
could someone look into the frame mount thing? i know mine had a tab sticking out in the middle, i put that on the bottom thinking thats what the motor mount would rest on when its not bolted in.
Mine has a little tab/ledge on the "side" of it that the motor mount would kinda rest on Is that what your talking about?
yeah, you can't get the mount in if it were on the upper side of the mount, goes towards the bottom to help locate the mounts, which are the dumbest motor mounts I think I have ever seen
Im uploading pics from camera to the PC right now I could only get a underneat shot of the passenger side. Considering my headers and such are in the way My right side as a upside down R on it facing the front. Maybe the pictures will help you but I doubt it considering theres no room
frame mounts just went and looked at my frame mounts, they are off set to the rear of the car so thats right, i have 2 inches of room between motor and firewall so i believe thats correct my trans mount sits center in its double hump mount so thats right also, i think i'm going to try to run it like that and see waht happens
I'd still suggest marking the yolk and pulling it out and measuring how much sticks into the tailshaft first... just to make sure Did those pics help at all?
