Hey, very nice Maverick! Are you around Sacramento, or more south? I am trying to make a list of Maverick/Comet owners in Northern California so it is easier to contact them if there is a show, etc. You can email me if you want. cricket3@pacbell.net

Welcome Dan :) I enjoyed reading your story. I'm sorry you lost your dad, but it sounds like he raised you right and took care of things the right way. Glad to hear you want to pick up where he left off. My father was also a parts manager at our Ford Dealership here. He's retired now but he helped me procure parts for my first Mav as well, and I've learned a lot from him.

This is a great place not only for Mav/Com information but also it's like a big family too. Good luck with your project and it's good to have you with us.

    Sam :)

Great Maverick! Grabber blue is my favorite! Welcome aboard. Hope to see you at an event some day. Do you ever go to Formosa (Backersfield) raceway?

    Thanks guys. (again)

    HotRodBob,

Bakersfield is a little far for me. I usually Drag Race at Sacramento Raceway. There is also a new HUGE race park being built (not finished) in Madera Ca which is about the same distance as SAC raceway to me, but in the opposite direction.

Hey Dan, I don't know if you are still checking this thread, but whereabouts in CA do you live? I know Corbin has been trying to get a registry of Mav/Com owners around Sacramento for a while, so if he hasn't sent you a PM yet, you should PM him :bananaman

    The car looks great!
I like the Mopar too, you probably hated to see that one go as well,
but I understand the sentimental attachment to the Grabber.

If you are looking for suggestions-you mentioned the rear end unknowns,
you should go ahead and look for some donor parts to make yours a disc
front brake car. That will kill 2 birds at once by upgrading you to 5 lug
spindles/hubs as well. Any rear end upgrade should include 5 lug axles also.

All Mavericks and Comets were 5 lug from '73 and up. Only the V8 cars rec'd
5 lugs from the factory before '73. Granada spindles and other Maverick/Comet
    parts allow this upgrade.

    Nice looking car.
Do you know if your Dad swapped those seats in after removing bench or
other bucket seats? It is hard to tell with them being custom covered, but
they appear to be the LDO style seats from later year model Mavericks/Comets.

If you need anything, just ask.

    Seth

    Mercury,
I've emailed Corbin about the list he is putting together.

    Little Red Toy,

Yes, I will be doing a front disc brake / 5 lug swap in the front very soon. I think I've decided to go with the 8" rear with a posi and decent gears. I hope to get a wheel with enough back spacing to get some fairly wide tires in the back. I may have to relocate the leaf springs.
I am not sure if the car was a factory bench or Buckets. I'm going to guess Bench. I'll have to get around to asking my Mom as she was the original purchaser of the car. She opted for the staight 6 because gas had jumped from $0.25/gal to 0.50/gal. A few years before that she owned a Hemi Roadrunner, as well as a 426 cross-ram (non hemi) dodge. These cars actually belonged to her first husband, but she drove the Roadrunner frequently!
I have one picture of the seats before they were reupholstered. They were Tan leather-looking seats.

    M.A.V.,

Your Maverick Sits exactly how I want mine to when I am done. That is my goal. Can you give me some tips on getting that "raked" look on these Mavericks? I know you run a 9", but I must have my Grabber sitting like yours!--Email me please: mrdan@thevision.net

    Thanks everyone.--Dan
