That looks to me like it's pretty much in the dash, hard to say though, the way it's zoomed out I can't really tell.

Ok, well here's another question someone might know how to answer, how do you remove the plastic housing that's over the steering column at the bottom, near the dash?

Here is another pic..those are the two bolts that hold the column up.

If it is the plastic piece I think it is, there it is kind of clipped on from underneath...

Ok thanks a lot MavMark, you're advise really helped me. I took off the plastic housing, undid the linkage, and I was able to push the switch in with a screwdriver and put it in the ON position so that I could raise the hood and jump the solenoid. So now I can hotwire the car, but I still have two questions.

How does the switch work? I was able to push it into the ON position, but not actually crank the car with it.

Does that linkage have anything to do with the steering lock? Because I still have the problem of having my wheel locked.

well why not after the lock is broke go to the cylonoid and use a screw driver to connect the posts

The switch is spring loaded..with enough force it should engage the starter and when you let go it would go into run.

If it doesn't seem to want to go into run, try working it the other way...one direction is ACC and the other is RUN(I think pushing toward the floor is going towards START, but I could be wrong...)

The switch itself can't release the lock...the lock is part of the mechanism at the top end of the linkage...

yes when I push it in (downward kind of) it goes into the ON position, I will try hooking a wire to it and pushing it in to start the car. As for the steering wheel lock any suggestions of how to get rid of it would be helpful, I've even tried pushing it into it's little hole with a screwdriver and beating on it with a hammer, it won't come off of it's spring or whatever and stop locking the wheel.

if pushing it the one way will not get the starter to go, definitely try going the other direction...you may have the car in ACC instead of RUN!

A crazy idea...maybe putting a drop of super glue on the lock (if you can get to it) and using a screw driver to hold it in until it sticks in the down position? Aside from breaking it or using a puller to get the adapter off..I dunno....

yeah I thought of the super glue idea.........but if it were to come undone and lock while I was driving it that could be a very bad thing.

this is true..damn, that could be serious problem! Best to think these things thru...

Maybe you could make a makeshift puller..do you have any bolts that will fit in those threaded holes?
