Hey M.A.V. was it a plastic fan like mine or metal? I am eventually going with an electric unit when I put my A/C back on......

84stepside: That is a 85 Mustang GT dual snorkle, and I cut the snorkles down and painted it engine color.

It was a black plastic fan exactly like yours ( I think Moroso made them)

    So which fans did best?
I know Summit still sells plastic flex fans.
The selling point is that they are so light that they prolong the life of your water pump bearings. (along with the part about flattening out at RPM to gain power...)
Sounded good to me. Now I suppose I reconsider.
I used to run an aluminum flex fan, but you don't see those anymore. Just steel...

Oh man ... To be honest I do not remember which fan WON the Shootout. I gotta dig that magazine out now and post ALL of the results here . The main reason I remember the fan that you have was the worst one for robbing power is a friend had one on his Pro street `65 mustang and when I read the article I called him to tell him ,and he had already read the same book. He went with another fan and I remember the black one hanging on the wall of his garage for a while after that.
Never fear, I will begin searching my "stacks " of magazines tonite!

i bought a 14 inch fan from checker/autozone... electric...and it didnt do a damn thing.... even though it was rated at 1200 cfm...

i drove my mav to work this morning....stopped at lights it was 185 or so.... driving...it ran about 165-170 and i have a 180 robershaw stat in it... outside temp was 73 degrees at 6:45am...

the true test after i put bigger jets in it will be on the trip home today....suppsed to be 97 for the trip home at around 4pm.... long ditance is not a problem, never was. Its the stop at the stop light that kills me

hope for cooler temps...if the car still overheats i am gonna look for the taurus fan setup and go from there
