I like mechanical , but I have had bad luck with Mechanical oil presure lines. Broke 2 in a few months of each other. If you use a mechanical oil gauge, DO NOT use the nylon lines. Go for the brass. I've had the brass on my car for 5 years now, no problem.

I'm cheap. Check out Sun Pro gauges on line. I bought them at Pep Boys. I just bought a set (Oil, Water, Volt, Gas) for my street rod and Ranchero. And a matching (Almost) Speedo from Auto Meter (Summit) for about $120 for the set. Half the cost of anyone else. I've run Sun Pro for about 10 years in my street rod, but I'm redoing the dash on my Ranchero so I went for white face gauges.

Here are the Sun Pro gauges I bought. The three shown here were less then $50. direct from them (http://www.actron.com) and only $30. from Pep boys. I got the Fuel gauge as well for $15. more and a Autometer Speedo from Summit.

I use the same "sunpro" gauges in my '71...except I blacked out the chrome gauge holder and added two chrome toggles between the guages...its looks super...I'll get a pic this weekend and post it. By the way..I have the same steering wheel as gsjohnson except I have a "Mav horns" horn button

I have since replaced the horn button with a Shelby snake horn button.

Heres the Auto Comp 2 5/8" gauge in a homemade pod...eventually I'll put it in a AutoComp pod when I get around to the interior work...I wasn't gonna run the car without a set of real gauges in it.
