Fuel Filler tubes

    Are the Fuel filler tubes different betweent the years? I tried putting one I had from a '71 Maverick into a '76 Comet and it only seems to go into the tank so far and binds. I realize that the holes to mount them are different and that the later ones only accept the small filler nozzles...but is the bend different? I have to go about another half inch..and it don't seem to go..

    Well, the tanks are different but I think the filler is in the same location.

    What you are doing should work. Try a little vaseline or oil on the neck before you shove it in the tank.
