I'm looking at a empty caliper from my '69 428 Fairlane and I don't see any real difference... The size of the bearings changed from '69 to '70 so you need to know which they are for rotor/bearings, but I believe calipers & pads are all same... I don't remember my rotors having the extra slots between the lugs, I have a set from a '69 Torino GT I can look at tomorrow...
arent there numbers on the caliper and or pads or even spindles? thats how I found out what the 4 lug disc brake set up I have was for a pinto or mustang
I got a chance to look at the calipers today heres what I found. This is the drivers side caliper looks like a 184 to me Drivers side spindle Heres the passenger side caliper looks like a 217 to me and heres the passenger side spindle
D0ZA on the spindle would indicate they are '70 Stang brakes, those use a larger rotor than the Granada(basically a better brake)... I'm gonna use same on my Comet but mine are from a '69 Torino GT... EDIT I checked the Ford Master Parts Catalog and found the '70 & '71 Torino/Cyclone used the exact same D0ZA-3107/8-C spindle... Note those are casting numbers and not the actual part number...
'70/'71 Torino & '70 Mustang use same rotors as well as the other brake parts... If my '69 rotors were as nice as yours appear, I wouldn't need new ones...
I'm going to replace the caliper hardware and inspect the brake pads I haven't serviced the front brakes since I bought the car a year and a half ago
