Here's a video on how to do it on a Mustang. Think they have the same clips. I didn't have any damage taking the trim off but I did get a couple of small dents putting it back. Problem is the replacement clips don't work right. Save your old ones.

Somewhere I saw some good pictures on how the clips should be removed. If I can remember where or find them I'll post them.

A trim removal tool works great on the clips to remove the trim, I mean I did it without damaging the trim, also managed to save my old trim clips, the butyl can be a chore to get off to reuse the clips, but I soaked mine overnight with PB Blaster and hosed them off the next morning and they came out clean, to remove the clips from the small posts that hold them on, just pull the bottom center of the clip away slightly and lift them off, ok on to the saga of my windshield install, the Glass Doctor is now saying he will not use butyl and has backed out on me...GOOD, cuz I wasn't gonna wait three weeks for a windshield, I have the windshield ordered and it will be here in the morning along with an installer who will use butyl! I said I would help him install it and thats all he needed to hear, he has been in the install business 16 years and just needs me to add a little push to it as he ropes it in. :thumbs2:

Be careful on how much sealer you use. If you use too much....it will make getting the clips back on the car, as well as the trim, very difficult.

putting the clips on after the windshield is installed is how i broke my windshield to start with...:yup:
my installer had me put the clips and stands on first. then all we had to do was adjust them before applying the sealer...
my guy filled the groove between the gasket and the opening...that's the way it was when i pulled the windshield.
