Thanks for the images and all the good information. I've got a 390 stroker, a 428 stroker both done and a good toploader. So I'm thinking how do I do this without getting in too deep. I'd really like to talk to the guy that did that swap in the Carlisle picture. Thanks, Jim M

If you do the MII swap, you won't regret it even if you go back to a regular Big block of a small block... they are so much easier to work on.

So if you have the cash I'd go that route

I think they don't look impressive for 2 reasons:
    1-That pic is of a 302.
    2-The angle of the pic.

On a 351w in a car, they look great. You have to do a triple take to see it's not an FE.

    Now yer talkin!
If that toploader is the short tail, Mustang style, then you have the perfect tranny for the swap. That style is equivalent to a C4 in mounting.
The long tail, Torino/full size style, is based on a C6 crossmember and driveshaft. Therefore that one would require pretty much all the mods you'd need to install a C6, therefore not good...

Short tail: Good... Use stock crossmember and driveshaft.
Long tail: Bad... custom build crossmember and shorten driveshaft.

Either version will need a 4 speed toploader Mustang speedo cable.
The Maverick never used a tranny with a long speed cable like the toploader uses. Stock is too short.

Oh, and if you have a short tail, just use a Mustang shifter.

I agree, I think they would look better on a 351 in a car, but I'd be able to tell the difference pretty fast due to having worked on a FE many times.
