RE: "P.S. Please do not respond to this thread if you are going to respond negatively as I would really like to get this going and negativity takes away from that goal."

I find it ironic that you are asking for respect yet that seems to be the one thing you are not showing the MCG (an established group with elected members and a long history - and who's treasurer's publically stated goal is not likely financing a trip to Mexico).
Why not just do the right thing and change the name of your fledgling association of a few people to avoid confusion with the one that has a history and has long been established and go about trying to build yourmembership not divide people? That way you can devote your energies to establishing your club goals, protocols for electing people, how to control the funds and all that logo and fundraising stuff.
Normally when a group of people decide to create a club they get together and do all of that stuff "as a group" and then get around to deciding names and logos and things. Part of that process is developing why they want a club and finding a unique name that represents the group and isn't likely to be confused with other similar associations.
As far as the stuff you have printed, well as you have said "it's only money" right? I'm sure you're more interested in the greater good of harmony among members of the board...

I agree and here in the Southeast we have a group called Dixie Mavericks, which you dont confuse with MCG, we are all MCG members to my knowledge and we have get togethers, share knowledge over the breakfast table, at cruises and other events and all are supporters of MCG with our dues as Dixie Mavericks charges no dues but we do help each other out with parts or whatever is needed just as we do on the MCG. Terry (Hawko on the MCG) is in charge of the site and doesnt charge a dime. Thanks Terry! (y)

Jimmy, I think if you are not worried about the money and change the name you won't have negative feedback.:)

Why not the "Western Maverick/Comet Association" WMCA? Or anything really. It dosen't take much creativity to come up with a name that's not blatantly ripping off the name of an established group. I wish you luck with your group, but I have very strong reservations against you going forward with your currently chosen name.

Dan Hines owns and operates the Dixie Maverick site, and as far as I can remember, he is the one who originally coined the Dixie Mavericks name. But yea, we're fortunate enough to have an excellent group of guys down here, all within a few hours drive of each other. But we really don't claim to be a club or anything like that, it's more of a society. We pick a place to get together, show up, and have a great time. We welcome absolutely anyone, from anywhere to come to our get togethers. Only expense incurred is your own.

Congrats on the new club. I have a feeling you can make it work.(y)
What you should do with those bumpers is offer them to your fellow Canucks. You know like me.:) They have enough parts down south. Ours rotted away years ago.:thumbs2:

As for the rest of this thread, in relation to the name of the club I for one am totally confused. How many clubs are out there? mcg,mcg canada, dixie, maverick comet club international did I miss any?? So which one serves Ontario?? :scratchchin:

Yep...you actually missed the CAMEO club out of south Florida. :)
Wouldnt it be awesome if there was just one big united club? Nice dream but will never happen. Will never open that can of worms again. :(

Both the MCCI and MCG (the original, not the clone) serve Ontario, join both or just one, whatever your personal preference.
