LOL..are we talking about Tauruses here or 30 year old performance modified mavericks.

Cuz if we're talking about Tauruses, I retract that statement! :)

    Way back when.

I'll explain my comment a little. You gotta admit the place is goofy. Flag waving won't change it. I entered the private sector back when it was still Hughes Missile, 1980. My first civilian electronics job was Burr/Brown. Had friends in about every electronics company in Tucson including Hughes. Still have friends that work there now. The flat out goofy way that plant runs drives a lot of people to drink. Had one friend that started there, quit after 3 months, wasn't allowed to work as fast as he wanted. This union guy has to haul this cart to his work station(with like 5 pounds of boards), another guy has to take it away, he could test a board but not fix it, he could troubleshoot it, but someone else had to change the bad component. If someone hadn't brought more work on time, you sit and wait until they get around to it, and keep you mouth shut. We were maintaining all of BB's laser systems before he went over there, they ran 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, if one went down it had to get back up right now. We fixed anything and everything that broke. The transition to Hughes drove him nuts, he thought the grass was going to be greener, came right back. It's a govt. plant, and runs like it. But hey, they're one of the biggest, if not the biggest, employer in Tucson, people gotta work. Not dogging you for working there, just saying it's a goofy place, and always has been.
I have to take all responsibility for any stupidity at my work place, I work for myself, I can't afford stupid people. My one hiring rule is hire intelligence over anything else. But I'm small, and it's woodworking. I can teach someone intelligent what they need to know. And I have to say I'm stunned at how little high school graduates know these days. Can't do fractions, let alone geometry or trig.
This has nothing to do with your car but it's your thread so figured I'd answer.

ok...in that case...yeah the place is a little goofy.....the biggest problem is i came from the military....used to doing every aspect of a job...so it was an awakening for me to have to rely on people....that is the most ridiculous way to run a business.....but it runs that way because of the union......and then alot of the union members abuse the union rules....and refuse to work because its not their job....

alot of what you said is true i mistook your post... :)

well i have zero problems in the mornings.....on the way to work....outside temps are about 75-85 at 630 AM..... and when i drive home at about 330pm.....the outside temp is at 103-111..... and the car runs fine when i keep driving....the most of my driving is the first 5-7 miles leaving work...its all straight shot....very little lights... it stays under 200....once i hit the stop lighs....there are about 20 or so i have to go through on the way home...it will go up to 220 at the lights....as long as i am lead car (not very often) i can take off fast and get the temps down to 205 or so....then the next light...etc.... and it gradually increases the temps....the last time i drove it home from work...it got up to 225 and that was at the last light....so i managed to get it to cool down to 210 for the last mile or so...

most people dont drive thier mavs in the winter.....my mav is one that is strickly a winter car... or spring or fal...but NOT summer....lol

    discrimination.

Now you're saying Arizonans don't modify their cars? Just a bunch of granny cars running around Phoenix? Jeez, I'm getting insulted now. Probably have to sick the ACLU on you. (nothing personal)

And I say again, remind me not to move to Arizona. (y)

My car would probably just be a ball of fire going down the road in that kind of heat. :)

heh, like Georgia and Alabama have been that much cooler lately... 98*F with a heat index of "eeeeaaarghyaaaah!"...

seriously, you need to chug gatorade constantly if you just stand outside. Heat index of 105*F for the past week or so... and of course the past week we've been gathering parts for various projects...

Not much better in St. Louis. At 9 am is was 86 with 70% Humidity which makes it feel like 95. Sunday we are forecasted to hit 102, factor in Humidity it will feel like 115.

    94

Well, I don't actually live in Phoenix, or Tucson, 94 here yesterday while it was 108 in tucson, was supposed to be lower today. Much easier living in a small town at 4000 ft. without all that concrete and asphalt to keep you hot all night. And Yamaha's rule. Still drive my air cooled, 165 rwhp fj1200 around in the heat, water hasn't boiled over yet, and I haven't had to add any the whole time I'v owned it.
