I have purchased many cars sight unseen. I purchased my black XR7 htp from an elderly gentleman in San Diego. Iy was advertised in a trader publication. A friend on the Cougar forums checked it out and sent numerous pics. All good. The owner cooperated in securing it on the transporter. All 3 Sprints were purchased sight unseen and all went the same way. Two of them were on Ebay and the other was through a forum much like this one. A member on this forum checked out one of them for me. Two were transported and the sellers helped get them on the transporter. Both of my Comet GT's were also purchased the same way and full cooperation from the sellers. They were both through this forum. In fact, all of the sellers threw in extra parts at pickup time. Cougar and Comet parts car deals went the same way. Maybe I have been lucky, but I am 8 for 8. Jim
I think the key to all of these successful "site unseen" purchases is an EXPERIEINCED buyer. If one is not an experieinced buyer, then I would recommend having a looksee.
I agree, with the right pictures, I would buy a car off Ebay without worry. A good friend of mine bought a Jaguar E type, from California off Ebay, it was delivered to Detroit, and we drove it home, no issues. The seller even shipped him a brand new crated windshield.
Just curious as to what part of PA did you buy your Maverick from? I know there was a nice orange/silver one not far from me for sale. Hardly ever see one for sale in PA.
Well I found on in TN that I was real interested in. He sent me multiple pics and txt. Was gonna fly down and look at it (100$ flight, and my brother lives 2hrs from there). So I asked the guy to call me so we could work out details to make sure he doesnt sell it or not a scamer. Now all of a sudden, he only has text and cant call. Seems like a mega red flag to me. Didnt even know you could get cell phones that were txt only.
Called my LITTLE brother, (you know the one 10yrs younger but a foot taller), he is 2hrs away from the car. He is going to go check it out for me this weekend.
