I was a little disappointed the Z-bar setup would not work ..... but this is bad news .........:(

Is it a problem with the manual steering, the power steering, or both pitman arms? :hmmm:

That appears to be a very major oversight. That really sucks, because I will have to buy a set of long tubes if that isn't corrected.

I don't think it's the end of the world yet, Craig didn't seem too worried...I think I'll drop a spare motor into my 74 just to see whats going on for myself, I might dig out a stock set of manifolds and compare them....Hmmmm

The Tri-Y headers I used had the exact same issue.
    No left turn.
I ended up crushing the pipe just so I didn't have to take them back off right away.
I drove like that until I refurbished my 6901s (best fitting header ever).

For you guys that like low end torque and ground clearance, it seems to me that instead of focusing on shortys, you would find a tweak to get Tri-Ys to work.
They have lots of torque and ground clearance. I wish I could have kept mine on the Sprint.

i thought they had these test fitted on a mav when they made them? thats pretty hard to overlook a problem like that, they should have cought that when designing them. mayby they screwed up when making them some how with their jig that they weld them up in. i would get ahold of the company and send them back so they can redesign them.

the 6901s hit too damn hard to correct, I cut the #6 tube out, and the 7 still made contact, then, how do you piece that back together and still make the collector? I got so frustrated with them stupid things, I gave them away, it seems to be easier to make 1 pipe clear, then work with it where ever it ends up then trying to get from piont a to piont b while clearing point c, I'm not upset, but I need to do some thinking.

I'm sure Jamie will correct this.......

He is a stand up guy. He took this on when nobody else would. It's just a bump in the road......

Building headers suck. I have built several pairs when I started out in an Exhaust fab shop way back when.

    Jamie has my respect.

My 6901`s fit with NO modifications, were very easy to install, and have never bottomed out.

I have never heard of 6901s needing major surgery to fit a 302 car...

What's this about needing to cut out #6 tube?!?

Were you working on a 302?
Are you sure you had 6901s?

yeah, that's why I thought my car was tweeked, but it's not, they were def 6901, and they hit at straight, 2 damn tubes, I thought that my motor mounts were wrong, and they were backward, pulled the motor out, swapped the mounts, set it back in, was a little better, but not much. It's a 5.0, but that shouldnt change where the headers hit the manual steering pitman arm, tried the power arm, maybe it'll clear, nope, same thing, maybe I got a bad set then, but these are going to be easier to fix than them thigs were

I have ordered headers before and was sent the wrong set.
They weren't Hookers, they were ordered to fit a 351c 4v, and I got B302 headers.
They looked right because they both use the same exhaust port, but they weren't even close. Only one number off in part number.

My 6901s don't even come close to the manual steering on the Sprint. Not even close.
Same with my PS equipped 75, not even close to anything but the slave cylinder, but we all know about that...
The pic of my Tri-Ys hitting... the 6901s are on there now and clear like I said. I couldn't hit them if I wanted to.
I suppose I will have to take a comparison pic.

    Good luck
    Dave

I have a pair of Headmans that were on my 74, they worked real good, but I had to lose the column shift and re-locate the slave cylinder, maybe I'll pull them out for a pic.
