Did v8 71-72 Grabbers have wider rims than the 6 Cylinder cars? I notice on alot of Orignal V8 Grabbers have a deeper Beauty Ring on the car... notice both different ring depths! First car has deeper Rings. http://www.tuningfever.fr/pics-med-1042-7556-ford-maverick-grabber-1972.jpg http://hotroddrivein.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/CARS_008.253120422_std.jpg
looks like it might be camera angles playing tricks on the eye. I would imagine Ford would have one size of steely and the "Mag" style would be slightly wider. I could be wrong though.
No theres deffintly deeper dish Beauty rings...and i see them on quite a few v8 Cars. Mustang as well.
front and rear look the same to me. I'm not sure about the earlier cars, but we had a stock 73 Grabber when I was a teen, and the wheels where the same front and back.
The wider wheels are 6". They were not part of the Grabber package. They were also used on other Fords and Mercs.
Could just be the 6" inch rim pulls the center cap in Farther exposing the Ring More....but looks like Ford Also has a "deep dish" Trim Ring as well.... Wonder if 71-73 Mustang had same trim ring part number as the Maverick http://assets.nydailynews.com/img/2009/09/02/gal_cars_gone-in-60-seconds_1974.jpg
Not necessarily. Earlier V8's had narrrow wheels as standard equipment. There also was a 4-lug 6" wheel available on 6 cyl. cars.
They are surely scarce. I was looking for a full set for my dad's '71, but all I could find was two. He ending up just having some made.
I just looked it up on the order forms, and in the price books, I have, and it doesn't really say anything, but it shows the same option for tires on a 250 with A/C, as a 302 with or without...There are 5 different tire options, so depending on the size, it may determine the rim that was used? All are 14" I figured it may have a note that makes you take one option, when you pick option..but nothing like that. I
That's correct. It's why some 250's have 5-lug wheels, while others have 4-lugs. The 250 A/C option got you bigger brakes, thus the 5-lug wheels.
