I have been extremely busy with work and getting ready for the holidays. I am in process of swapping to small bumpers and I dont think I will be finished in time for the meet unfortunately!
26 hours to go. Not sure if you guys would be interested in going to a drive thru coffee shop called Bikini Beans. 2330 N 7th St, Phoenix, AZ 85006 Just a heads up, not all wives/girlfriends like this place.
Anyone have some suggestions on a windshield? Bell Glass wants 350 installed with new gasket for one.. anyone one got something better? Please!
Too bad I already sold my old one...but Joe (2mav4u) has like 3 mavericks at his house...maybe he will give one up?
Guys, have any of you used Bench Works in Scottsdale? I want to get rid of the play I have in the steering box.. it a little dangerous when making a pass, I have constantly be correcting the car... the play is definitely in the box.. Also RockAuto carries the Lares brand #8644 rebuilt boxes.. has anyone used them before? the Lares box comes out over 150 bux cheaper, even after shipping the core back than Bench Works rebuilding it locally...
Have you tried tightening up your box yourself? theres not much to a manual box that goes bad unless its really bad. Look down at the box from above and see the slotted stud with a jam nut around it. loosen the nut, use a large flat screw driver and turn the nut in a quarter turn and lock the nut down. then test drive and repeat.
no I haven't... the box is like a bee sting to me.... decades ago I took one apart for scholl and it was a total failure.. ever since then i never dealt with one until now.. but fuck it what do i got to loose.. You've done it before? I thought it can bind up... guess thats when you back it up lol??
Ive done it, gone too far and had no play in the wheel and that feels even worse. just get it to where you like it, dosnt take much of a turn to make a difference so go in small increments.
More to it than that. That will adjust the sector shaft only...not the worm bearing. You need to remove the pitman arm to correctly adjust the steering box. http://www.1bad6t.com/pdf/steeringbox-adjustment.pdf
