I found the 3/32 wheels don't last too long, I use at least 1/8, much thicker than that and they don't last either.

Of course I cut my floorpans, part of the cowl and all the fresh sheetmetal...

if you can't hold your breath the whole time, a mask is nice too. It sucks to be blowing rust out of your nose 3 days after you cut clean shiney new steel.

I have a plasma cutter but seldom use it on sheet metal. Cut off wheels leave a finished edge. Plasma cutters do not.

Yesterday, when I posted this question, I also put up 2 other posts with questions on different subject matters. I got similar responses to all three; lots of excellent information and opinions! Just one of the reasons that this board is such a great place to hang your hat. Thanks tons fellas. John B

    I've had a few
Sawz-All, Angle Grinder with a cut off wheel, Die grinder with a cut off wheel, or a Dremel for real thin metal/small cuts. Just depends on where I'm at and what I'm doing/cutting.

Panel cutter for long cuts with a single layer, Saws-all forcutting multiple layers. grinders generate too much heat and dust, plasma cutters are good if you have to cut thick metal that the panel cutter won't do and cut-off wheels for small jobs. I don't like to work at it too hard.
