he used the oval pre made ones you get for a trailer and stuck them under a diffuser behind the lite cover. which also means they are water sealed.
Nice job Dennis. I've had the exact same idea bouncing around in my head for a few years now, but you beat me to it. Now when I finally get around to it I'll be accused of copying you! lol. Fine work as always. Sam
I was going to do that too but I didnt want the chrome crosshairs. Had they not been embedded in the lens, I would have used the stock lenses.
Yes, they are oval truck lights. You can pick them up at anyplace that sells truck parts. I will get a picture of them this afternoon.
Here are pictures of the lights. It is made by Signal-Stat model 6050. Price here is $26.25 each. You can also buy the plugs for ther back for another $1.65. They are sealed units and have 24 LEDs in them.
I need something like that also. I'm also tring to put led front turn signals in the new grill. Painless Wireing makes a blinker the will cause the led lights to blink. I for got the part number though. This will take me some time to do. Mavaholic, I will hate to copy off you but your way may be easier.
Signal Stat is now owned by a company called Truck-Lite, who my company buys tons of lights, flashers, etc. from. I'll have to see what kind of deal I can get.
I know it was a while ago... But Mavaholic, do you still have any of these pics? It sounds cool! I wanna see too!
I'm not sure where the pictures went but this might be one of them. However I was not real happy with the way they looked because they didn't have the shape of the Comet light. It was just an over the counter oval LED tail light that I cut up and mounted in the Comet. So I recently decided to build my own. I have the layout done for one tail light. It has 99 LED's. (2 more were added since this picture was taken). The electronic components to build the voltage regulator and circuits should be in this week. Maybe I will have this working sometime this coming weekend.
