mavmike pull the valve cover on the suspect side and look for anything out of place.Loose rocker... bent push rod etc...good luck.(I cant see the forest for the trees sometimes)thanks Luke!!!
thanks again fellas for the input ill pull the valve cover off tomorrow and let you guys no what i found.....................
A missfire on a EFI will cause surging. My money is on the ignition system. Just cause you have fire in the wire don't mean you don't have a break down elsewhere, like a hairline crack or a carbon track in the cap.
O k heres the deal just pulled the valve cover off and rockers are all in place. So i pulled the coil wire and rotated the motor everthing is moving ok to me am i missing something ? What else do i look for ?
it seems like you have done every thing to be done. how about you recap specificly what you have done so there is no confusion. im not sure what all has been done at this point. perhaps if every thing that has been done and that is happening is listed out in one post the problem will be easyer to identify.
no change in second cyl on drives side (i think that is #6) when you remove plug wire. 1. replaced plug and wire 2. replaced two injectors 3. checked fuel presure 4. checked with a noid gage 5. replace mass air 6. changed computor 7. remove valve cover and took a look that might cover it..............
did you do a compression check. also ive seen the #5 and #6 plug wires get crossed and cause a miss like conditions.
once i chaseing a miss on a 5.0 mustang and it turnd out that the reluctor wheel in the distrubor was loose. so give that a inspection
I talked to mike...... I am convinced it is still an injector issue. He ohmed out the first one and it was bad it was open that =BAD I think he just has another bad injector. The pintle is stuck. To verify I told him pull the coil wire and crank it over a good 10-15 times. Then pull the plug. If it is dry it is not getting fuel. Then pull the Rail have somebody crank over the engine and watch the spray patten of all injectors. That simple. He has fire He has Compression He has valves that are opening and closing He Has injector pulse The only thing he could be missing is fuel....... This stuff aint rocket science. The only thing that would be cool is a Boroscope to look into the cylinder to see anything suspect...I have one.... but I do this chit everyday and have for the last 15 years!!!!! I had one today that the service manager swore I was wrong on. Put the van in gear it would die. I pulled the plugs and they were worn twice as much as the original gap and the wires were showing carbon trails. He said it's the torque converter. I said Ok we can check that. The TC was not in lock up mood and had sufficient slip. I said Lets bet Lunch. I ate great today!!! It was just enough load for the ignition with no advance to keep up with. Whoos your ASE MASTER TECHNICAN Lance<----------thats who!!! I am pretty much a driveability GOD!!!! Ok just having fun. There are few every year I can't figure out or the customer isn't willing to pay me as much labor as I need to git er done.....!!! Oh yea another one today. 1995 Buick Lesabre 3.8L 3 problems. One Volt gauge goes nuts along with the other gauges. I see a new alternator and I go hmmm.....i go check my wiring diagrams. Success I tap into the power wire that goes to the ECM from the Alt. I see the same numbers on my DVOM. Get another alternater and Yes It was fixed. I see a newer Transmission and the car shudders when you take off on first only. Fluid was worn some change it and add some stop shudder additive. I won that round also. Now the Third problem took a bit to find as there was two problems on the same circuit. Check Engine light. Codes 1547 and 1545. The Crusie control is not working. I test a bunch of wiring and fine two wires melted together. Repair those but still no Cruise cammand on according to the PCM. Do some more wirie probing and find that the switch(part of the turn signal switch is bad) put one in and Bang round three was hard fought but I am still the champ!!!! Any way that is just one day of What I deal with. The rest of the stuff I did was easy.
You could use a spark tester and see that.....If you have enough patience... It's like the Hondas when the igniter goes bad.....
lance does make a good case for the injector. as for checking the reluctor wheel in the distrubor, just take off the cap, its the disk under the rotor. just touch it and see if it moves. there are two small bolts that hold it down if they are loose. take them out one at a time, apply blue locktite and tighten them back down. did you put a new or used injector in? try switching the injector to a different cylinder and see if the miss moves with it. you must be geting really good and takeing that upper intake off and on.
