Wait back to topic!!! I thought that the Grabber front rails were 25% thicker then then six cylinder Mavericks.
what that a certain years? i know after 75 things changed. they came up with the v8 set up but no v8's cuz of the gas wars.
well the source(Printed by Ford) only states that this was for 1971 on the grabbers only nothing more or less... sorry weirdone
Stock, it is very possible. As stated before subframe connectors are your best friend. Other than that some slapper bars or caltracs would be good and some adjustable shocks. There is no "boxing" the frame on a unibody car Seriously tho, if you don't know what your doing, I would find someone who does, instead of just cobbling something together that may or may not work. Do your homework and use the search feature to find out about good subframe connectors and such. The guys here know what they are doing. You COULD twist it with 200 HP if the circumstances were right, so it's always worth the added piece of mind by doing upgrades
mayb that was an expirement for that year because it would of been waste of money to have 2 different frames and not even give that option when the cars came out.
You may be right this info is what I found printed?? so who knows only taking both and cutting them in half will we ever know hahahha who cares you still will not have too much of an issue...
well thats all i really wanna know. now im know im lucky for keeping this car, the mav is my first and only car, im going to reward it for its loyalty and put a v8 in it.
At 400 hp, you definitely need sub frame connectors. It's not optional, IMO. The frame on a '71 Grabber is the same as any other '71-'72 Maverick. The Grabber was only an appearance package. So it wouldn't make since that just the '71 V8 Grabbers would get a thicker frame. If Ford saw the need for a beefed up frame on the V8 cars, then ALL the V8 Mavericks would have got the thicker frame, because Grabber or not, they all had exactly the same drive train. 302's were available in Mavericks from '71-'77.
