Except for the shirt on the floor, why it's there? we wonder :evilsmile:rl:
You might do the cage then the interior, so you can work around it.

Crow brand are the popular belts out here right now. They should all be equal though given the rigorous testing that they have to go through to be certified.

lol that was suppose to be flor shifter, not floor shirt. thats what i get for typing will being preocupied lol

crow brand huh?? ok ill look into those.

roll cage is gonna take some time anyways, my lil bro can only build it for free from scraps from the lift shop but it takes time to collect that much scrap. im in no hurry anyways. im gonna do for the interior for now is my center console and bucket seats.

Dig yourself up an old Monarch or Granada console, they look really sharp in a Maverick.

Read up on this conversion, as I asked about it when I was going to go to power brakes, and it involves drilling your firewall and stuff. No biggie but not just a direct swap over so I was told

Yeah it involves changing pedals and shock tower braces, proportioning valves to match and all that fun stuff

I keep looking at doing that stuff too...

that ebay listing said it was for 76 mav. couldnt i just go to the parts store and ask for that stuff but go to the junk yard for the pedal n brackets?

There are other options, you can use a Geo Metro booster, but it's still a little bit of work, but overall less than doing the factory conversion.

manual brakes still provide as much stopping force. you just have to put your foot into it a little harder. but i bet your not going to find too many 10 sec cars that had manual brakes swapped in. with the aggressive cam that your mild 400hp 302 is going to hav your going to need to run a vac canister too to keep the brakes pumped up. and if a v8 maverick engine bay isnt crowded enough that big brake booster and shock tower brace is just going to make it that much harder to do anything to the drivers side of the motor

if you want to use that ebay setup it'll still work on your car. just because you have a 75 doesnt mean only 75 parts work. these cars are pretty much all the same every year.

IMO tho, i'd skip the power brakes

If you can find them it would be great the problem is like perfect Maverick body panels it is next to impossible finding them in certain areas(including here). If you are going to retain the stock setup then one of the biggest things you need is the shock tower brace it has a cutout for acess to the master cylinder these parts are Maverick/Comet specific so they are not as easy to find as mustang stuff(of course if we were talking about mustangs it would be a bolt on for power brakes).
Also as Mr Boyer said there is the Geo conversion...(He He...... Mr) I believe there are people that have done Hydrostatic conversions that run off your power steering pump, and I even believe there is one or two escort conversions.

well in my area theres plenty of donor mavs in the junk yard, and one guy has a lil ranch with 5 mavs sitting there ready to be torn apart.

Ill just have to go skimming through everything.

I love my manual brakes but the race track is much more stricter on older cars when it comes to safety. No manual brakes allowed if im gonna go faster then 12's. i place my car at high 18's for now lol

ill look into the conversions and parting out other cars aroudn town. thanks alot guys for your help.

Wow, haven't heard of the no manual brakes over a certain time.

Dave,Todd, and Junior have run manual brakes and have for as long as I known them as well as many many more guys up there and they stop just fine. Of course, they don't run stock brakes anymore.

yeah well thats what i heard. all my buddies who race said the tech guys are harder on older cars, so they said to upgrade to the power brakes.

ill look into it tho. im going to Famoso Raceway this friday for another great test n tune night. Its suppose to be a big one too, theres some kind of nostagia race that weekend so a lot of cars will be there friday night for tuning. i gotta look more into it
