When it comes to safety equipment I worry more about myself than others. The roll bar is there for my protection from the other guys. I may have the safest car in the world, but that doesn't stop someone from blowing a hose and coming into my lane (I see this kind of stuff every weekend on our test and tune nights. Just watch Pinks All Out if you haven't experienced it yourself!). Additionally with all the power adders these days 10's (and the speeds associated) are much easier to achieve than they were 20 years ago and you see many more 'street' cars doing it. Personally, I wouldn't race without a bar anything faster than a 12. Take care of yourself Weirdone and just spring for the additional $200 for a bar. Even if it's a bolt in, at least it's something between you and the ground, or other guy. (And it has the added chassis stiffening benefit!)
I go to Famoso in McFarland, Ca. its just right outside of bakersfield. Its in the middle of farmland. Yes its a 1/4 mile track. My lil brother works as welder for a suspension lift shop so he will do the roll cage and sub frame connectors. Now i just gotta handle everything else. I have plans as to what im gonna do but gettin the cash is the hard part. maybe if i use my girlish charm on the guys I might get somethings done for free:evilsmile.
Famosa is an NHRA track and goes by the NHRA rules. If they slack off on the T&T they could lose their insurance. I've raced there a number of times, but it's always been an NHRA event. Yeah, It's in the middle of nowhere. But at least the nitro skeeters have gotten better.
well i know the track was closed down for a while. It needs alot of love thought. Weeds and faded paint everywhere. At least its open. I would cry if I have no track to go to. Sacramento is to far for me to drive to. They are pretty lax on test n tune nights anyways. but they did kick a guy i know off the track. I was happy. he never did hit 9's. he hit 10 flat because he couldnt get his "daily driver" to hook.
lol i use that same saying!! thank goodness this butt is taken and is not free lol but a good smile and a low cut shirt goes a long way now a days. plus theres a lot of guys who would love to see a girl race and go fast.
Yeah, I would get the front and rear subframes tied together right away. That's a good thing on any unibody car. Then when your v8 goes in, tie the whole thing together with a cage of some sort. Also, remember never to drive the car with the shock tower braces off. They keep your front end alignment true, keep the towers from sagging, and therefore your tires last longer as well as the car handling better/safer. Since we are talking about underpinnings and strength... never use air shocks out back. The shock mounts are flimsy and the shocks should never support weight on our cars. Just shock absorbing, nothing more. I like the idea of weight loss... every 10 lbs is worth 1 rwhp essentially added. Don't forget the belly bar either. I6 cars don't have them. v8s do. A simple v8 swap probably wouldn't need one. But a mild engine like yours should have one.
belly bar?? lol that just sounds funny. where do they come up with the names for some of these things? Yes sir I will get on strengthening my car.
I don't have a problem with low cut shirts, I just can't get use to these belly shirts. It doesn't matter what one I wear, my belly still shows.
