By parts cars, I think he meant parts cars for HIS car. "Maverick people" seem to like to share our finds and deals with each other, which does not necessarily mean the parts we have are for sale. Mustang parts are in general easier to find and cheaper then Maverick parts, most Mustang parts are reproduced. That is not the case with Maverick parts, for example no one is making anymore small bumpers or brackets (I have a few sets not for sale), or Grabber hoods for that Matter (I have two of them, not for sale), so the pieces that still exist go for higher prices then reproduced Mustang parts. I personally have a very nice stash of Maverick and Comet parts, along with eight entire Mavericks. Nothing I have is for sale anymore except to local people... To much of a hassle to keep up with shipping stuff out, especially as big as some parts are. He is not obligated to sell anything just because he told us he has it. I personally have traded tons of parts with other guys in Georgia. And we all get together pretty regularly to hang out and BS, and help each other out on our cars. If that makes us a diffrent breed, call me proud to be part of it. Not sure what your personal preference in cars has to do with anything. Glad your son dares to be diffrent, though.
My son don't dare to be different . He wants to drag race . He wanted a Fox Mustang. I came across a clean rust free 46,00 comet, for 200.00 on ebay. He had a choice to race the comet r bench race. he Decided on the Comet. he still wants a 1986 Mustang. I have nothing at all against them I just prefer 1960s Fords and Mercs.
The only reason I don't want to ship stuf is that it is to much trouble to me. And I was going to sell stuff on this board but I realized that it would be a lot of trouble.
Sorry...I just had to respond on this. I think you should talk him into selling it. I'm sure some of us "Maverick people" would certainly give you your money back. Of course we'd probably just put it up and never use it or put it on eBay and triple our money. Personally, if I sell something, it's worth whatever I sell it for, otherwise the buyer would never have bought it. That's the great thing about eBay. The bidders tell you what it's worth. On the other hand, I have helped my fellow Mavericker out many times...selling parts much cheaper that I could have sold for on eBay. There is no doubt I have a ton of parts I will never use. One day I'm sure I'll put them up for sale as these parts will definitely increase in value. For you to judge me for that and have never even met me is wrong. I too, am a Mustanger...having owned over 75 different pre-73 Mustangs in my lifetime. I owned a Mustang restoration shop in the 80's. I don't ever remember anyone giving away free Mustangs parts much less offer to put them on for free too. Sure, it's different when you have personal friends that have these cars...we give, swap, help all we can...but you don't even know this guy and you certainly aren't going in the right direction to become his friend. Good luck with the car. Sorry again guys...just felt a little offended by this postsince I AM a "Maverick person". :16suspect
I stand behind Ray on this one. and with my dealings with people, it's always ass-backwards...... everyone that has a mustang thinks it's golden and rarest of the rare.... but with mavericks and 'maverick people' around here i can buy just about any of them for little to nothing or trade for them. maybe it's just the 'maverick people' around you and in your area that might be a little off :16suspect
These guys are all great. The few things, I needed so far, someone has offered to sell me and even give "free" advise on how to repair, install or fix.... I'd be lost with this group.
This guy kind of offended me. I am the kind of person that if I consider you my friend I will help you with about anything but I am not going to pull parts for someone that I do not know and he probaly wants the part for about nothing.
