I bought the bumper from a guy I always buy a lot of Maverick stuff from. He recognizes me now when I walk up.

It is a rear bumper that has all the holes for the vertical bumper guards and horizontal rubber strips. I haven't figured out yet if Comets had the rear bumpers with the horizontal strips. I don't think they did...so this would be a Maverick bumper. It is real nice, but I can't imagine anybody ever needing it. I have one if they do!!

I'm glad you guys found good stuff. So did I. I scored a bunch of Mav NOS stuff also along with some bumper strips, one of which will make someone in Cali very happy, and some good used stuff. I got some nice NOS wheelcovers for my 4x4 and a new radio.

I was a bit surprised at the almost total lack of truck stuff there. I was hoping to find a bug shield and running boards for the F-150. Nada!

As usual, some of the dealers were dealing and some thought they had gold. Things died pretty early Sunday and the attendance was surprisingly light also.

Did any of you see the 351 Comet for sale on Saturday? It was sweet, though a bit pricey. It was gone Sunday.

I was glad of the antique show in the other buildings. I found the PERFECT Xmas gift for Joy there. She always wanted a cedar chest and we found the exact one she wanted.

Shame we didn't hook up. Maybe next time.

Oh, hey Dave Moore...nothing happened to anyone's cars at the Holiday Inn. Maybe it was too cold for the crack heads after all.

    Hey Wes....

Did you see the one NOS dealer that had the HUGE pile of NOS Maverick beltline moldings? Did you buy them all?

You talking about the chrome body side strips? I saw them but passed. I did find other NOS stuff on his table. He was pretty decent. He was willing to drop the prices some for a quantity purchase.

There was someone who had a NOS gas cap insert for a deluxe cap. I forgot to go back when he wasn't at his tables.

You must have scarfed that bumper before I saw it. The only bumper I saw was a front small Comet bumper and the guy wanted $200 for it.

It was kinda funny...some of the vendors that you'd think would have sold a lot of merchandise didn't seem to be. There was a guy in the large building near the car corral selling new under dash gauges and tachs extremely cheap. He was at the swap I vendored at in October and the gauges were flying off of his table all weekend. It wasn't the case in Columbus. I don't think the guys selling the Alteeza lights and trick-up stuff did well either. I saw a lot of used engine components and exhausts going out the door, especially EFI stuff. If anyone was looking for rear end gears and components, that was the place to be, although I'm not sure how they did sales wise.

Joy overheard a vendor that they had record attendance Saturday. That sure changed Sunday big time. I'm pondering vendoring there in April, but I'm not sure if the expense will be worth the chance as it's not cheap to sell there and buyers seem very fickle these days, as I found in October even with large attendance.

I saw the NOS grill and gap inserts that vendoer had. No need to ask....he is always VERY HIGH on his stuff. The guy that had all the side moldings is very reasonable on his stuff.

So what does a booth cost at a show like that?

If memory serves, it is $75 for a 10x20 space inside. This size space gives you little room especially if you have a significant quantity of merch. At the swap here in October, I paid $110 for two 10x30 spaces together.

Figure if you're coming from out of town to Columbus....

    Two spaces, $150
Hotel (at the rate I paid through Orbitz) two nights, $118 + taxes
    Plus gas, food, drink

You have to invest upward of $500 to sell for the weekend. You can do the math from here. This is why I'm very undecided about vendoring there in April. Also, if the attendance is similar to this weekend past, you only have one very good customer day. Sunday was very bad and vendors started packing up very early, some of them. A few of them didn't even come back Sunday.

Truthfully, after my experience in October and what I saw this weekend, I wonder how some of those vendors do it.
