dmhines, I bought a set of those a few months ago, with the turn downs. i have not put them on yet. But I am a racer so I wanted something I could just unbolt and take off.(I did not want the split tube to uncap my headers.) I hope I like the sound as much as those guys did..,,,,,,,,but the way I figure is, with right at 600 ponies at the flywheel, it would probably sound good running through a pepsi can.
I've read else where some time ago about guys swapping out gas tanks with a mustang for a more centered tank, but don't recall what model it is. I'm running 2.5" dual exhaust all the way back, but , like every one else, it is tight on the drivers side
That's correct. Mavaholic was the first one to do it. I believe the tanks are 67/68 Mustang. Even with the Mustang tank it will not be 100% in the center, but it will be much closer with room to run 4 inch pipes if you wanted to lol.
The 65-68 Mustang tank is the one I used. It does move over slightly but the biggest advantage is it moves the fuel pick up to the front of the tank. You could easily run 3" down the side with this set up.
Very nice job! That is exactly how I am going to do my orange car with the manderal bent pcs and the MAGNAFLOWS but no x pipe for me maybe an H pipe and the 2.5 to 3.0 does work well had that on a car before too.
Exhaust... I'm running a 302 with around 10:1 compression ratio into crappy new hooker headers (I'm surprised that the drivers side seems to be "kicked out" to the outside of the car by about an 1 inch and a half) going into 2.5 exhaust with an X pipe into Hooker aeroflow mufflers (the only thing from Hooker that I'm pleased with) roughly under the rear floor pan, over the axle and all the way out back. Now that I got the car back after the divorce I'm considering getting doug thorley headers and stainless exhaust in a similar manner to what I've already got.
