I have recently joined the Family- I AM the proud owner of a 1971 Mercury Comet 4dr. I love my car.

It was sitting on a horse property for about a year without any servicing and is in need of some serious TLC!! So........ Is there a repair manual or any other reference manual that I can use to fix the car myself. I want to know what makes it tick and I feel at a loss because I cannot really truly appreciate its sheer genuine machinery.

There is a lot of work that needs to be done and I want to be the one responsible for bringing it back to life. So any info, suggestions, comments please feel free. I need HELP!!

    other than that ,
    Thank you

    Car Shop Manual

Go to faxonautolit.com (see Don Graham's post above) and type in your info into the search, and choose the Car Shop Manual (5 volume set). Covers many 1971 passenger cars.

Well what Centerline did not tell you guys is that there is an owners manual for a 71 Maverick, and he has one. It was a light blue in color and said 71 Maverick on it and trust me I know what an owners manual is because I collect them, I couldnt talk him out of his, dang it anyhow.

Perhaps we could convince him to post a pic of it, he also had the warranty card and other literature from his 71 Grabber, very cool.

There were no Ford Cars in 1971 with a dedicated owners manual ... You got a generic car care and operation and then a big foldout Operations Features poster for the specific car. Don't believe me? Try to find a 1971 Mustang owners manual on eBay ... bet you can't ... just the generic and the operating feature poster .... just like these ...

I think I have all what the original owner had got on day of her purchase. Only specific Maverick pamphlet I have says "Operating Features" and "Warranty". That's it.

If a member here doesn't have one, I say it don't exist.

Unfortunately, I have to admit dmhines is correct. I have the basic passenger car manual with Maverick supplement.

I won't be a millionaire anytime soon. Oh, well. They are in pretty good condition, though.
