It may be true for you, but not for everyone. You have ported heads stealth, intake domed pistons, whatever... Your car runs good with a double pumper...... Now I may only be getting about 235-240 horses to the ground(probably a little less because I am running an AOD), but with my vacum secondary carb I have probably as much fun as you do but I am getting 19-21 mpg. instead of your massive 13 mpg.

i think the horsepower ratings were full of crap back in the 80's, they may have just lied but i would guess the 302s would make 200

Sounds like it's not an H.O. motor to begin with. 150 HP and roller equipped sounds like a LTD or Towncar motor. It probably has cast pistons instead of forged or hyper U like the H.O. Mustang/Mark VII motors.

I don't see how you can get that power for under 1K without a power adder like nitrous.

I'd buy used Twisted wedge heads ($1000+) and an F303 ($100 or less used) . Roller rockers ($100+used). Edlebrock Air gap dual plane ($150 or less used).... I could see it for between 1K and 2K Might get close. Check for valve to piston clearance before running.

yes the motor came out of a 1989 crown vic and i do plan on another set of heads that have been reworked ported and polished if i can get close to 250 or 275 i will be happy. roller rockers are a must e303 cam, 600cfm carb, headers duel exhaust, mallory ignition maybe differant pistons. depends on the heads and yes maybe a little blue bottle to help it burp a little.

With all you're doing maybe just a crate motor would be cheaper.

yes but i really want to build the motor myself and i think i will be able to do 250 hp without much effort. some good bolt ons alittle internal work good heads should do it. if that dont work i will just put a nos bottle on it.
