The guy I'm buying it from had fuel injection on it so I'm buying an intake and a 4bbl carb. but I have a question about the motor mounts. I was told that I need V8 frame brackets to go between my new motor mounts and the frame, but I was also told that it would depend on my K-Member. Frame brackets are $80 a pair and I don't want to drop that much cash if I don't need to. So if anyone can help me out with the particulars, or if you have any other comments, pointers, or suggestions about the swap, I would appreciate all the help I can get.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
I think Joe Dirt is running six cylinder frame mounts on his set up. Look up his build.

i have a 71 maverick that i just dropped a 90 mustang motor in it i swaped it to carb the mounts u can get from critespreformanceparts.com they have the frame mounts for 99 dollars and the insulators for 45. one thing when dropping in the later 302 you need to swap out the oil pan to a front sump oil pan because the rear sump part of the pan will hit your steering rack, maverick steering rack is in the middle of the engine bay rather than a later mustang which had a rack and pinion in the front

dont forget that the 70s distributor will have the wrong type of gear for the roller cam in the 90 mustang motor. the 86 mustang gt 302 manual trans carberated distributor will work. its a dura spark II type. it will work with msd also.

I found Joe Dirt. He's using his 250 brackets backwards? I don't understand exactly what he did (It was just a before and after picture) can anyone shed some light on this for me?

The way I understand it he swapped the frame brackets so the left bracket is on the right side of the car and the right on the left which mounts them "backwards". This allowed him to use late 70's truck mounts with the stock six cylinder frame brackets.

    i wouldn't say..."backwards"...more like the "correct way" for V8...:yup:
    ...it's a...duel function bracket...one way for 6cyl. the other for V8...

Does anyone know a close estimate to the pricing on the swap. Im swapping it myself with a mechanic friend and the engine was 300 and I already bought it. so I need a carb an intake two motor mounts and front sump oil pan. Could I get all of that second hand for under $400?

I hate to tell you this but I'm afraid you're going to spend way more than that to try to make that truck motor fit in there.
