Yup they were needing attention. Sometimes it's easier and cleaner to just replace them or the ends.. Did you check the fluid level in the battery...

Couple of things (a few actually) to look for from my experiences. Brakes not adjusted correctly. Brake wheel cylinder stuck. Brake hose is bad...

I went through it and could not find "polls". I was wanting to just look at "polls".
Back in my prime I remember being able to grab the crank pulley and turn it slowly while holding the pump up in position.
