I pulled the six out today. It was incredibly easy for my first one. If I was to use the aod and modify the tunnel will the drive shaft on the mav be the right length.
i dont use the v8 cross member... so i know it isnt requried.. but it does beef up the front a little bit the swap is easy enough to do.. just takes a little patience..
I ran mine for many years without the v8 crossmember. You can also get by without the double hump trans crossmember.
Ok I was putting the 302 in today and the exhaust maniflod hits the shock towers. Will after market headers be smaller.
What shifter will you be running. Most of the headers are designed for floor shift cars, however there is someone on the forum that has modified the column shifter to work. I personally like the Hooker 6901 headers. If you want to run cast manifolds you will need to find a set for a Maverick/Comet.
I'm going to have a Hurst floor shifter nicee. Do u know if the hooker 6901 are any thinner i mean don't pertrude so far out from the black as the stock manifolds do.
i have 6901's on mine. the passenger side goes in pretty easily. the drivers side you have to jack the engine up a couple of inches, and they do go in from the bottom. the higher the car the better, within reason of course.
