Not too sure, is it a roller motor? also some info on the balancer i believe would tell you. If you know what the motor is out of and your sticking with the "big" bellhousing, just go to your local parts store and order a flexplate for that motor, tell them to read the discription to make sure.
I just know its a 1980 motor, i wish i had the vehicle info. Would the casting# tell me? I have that written down somewhere. Yeah if I have to take out the tranny i guess it will be easier to find a flexplate then a bellhousing. What would be even better is to find starter to work with this 157 tooth flexplate and big bell housing.
Thanks, i was checking it out last night. I have lots of stuff to take apart. I think i'll have to loosen the headers on the passengers side to clear the bell where the starter bolts up. Dropped the driveshaft too last night but lost my ambition when i started wonderfitzing <- is that a word?
1980 302 would be a 28 ounce balance from the factory, BUT in your first post you stated your engine was BUILT by engine builder. He could have used a zero balance, 28 ounce, or 50 assembly. Well now you should be able to ask your engine builder, or look at your reciept. Or you can drop the oil pan and get the numbers off the crank and go from there. Cause the crank, balancer, and flywheel/flexplate have to match.
Alright looks like I've got to figure out what i've got here because something ain't right, well we already know that Help me out - here is what i currently have - 1980 Ford 302 casting #E0AE D3C Damper 28 oz imbalance Casting# D00-C1-SD D5 I'll have to look in at the crank# and see what i've got there. just talked with engine guy, says i have a 28 oz balance.
My engine guy is going to let me have one(flexplate). I just have to go pick it up. I'm going to try to get the tranny out tomorrow, thanks though! I'll keep you posted.
