Took car today and got plates for Ohio. YEA went smoothly. On the way back I stopped to vacuum what some might call a carpet. This fell out from under my dash. It had electrical tape on it, like someone was trying to hold it in place. What is it and how do I put it back?
well hell then thats ok, I got none anyway since the shifter was moved from the tree to the floor. edit: On my last maverick that I had 20ish years ago, I put a push on/off switch in my shifter knob for my back up lights. Sometimes forgot to turn it off. How do you guys handle the backup lights when moved from column to floor?
found this on the net: 4513.13 Cowl, fender, and back-up lights. (A) Any motor vehicle may be equipped with side cowl or fender lights which shall emit a white or amber light without glare. Any motor vehicle may be equipped with lights on each side thereof which shall emit a white or amber light without glare. Any motor vehicle may be equipped with back-up lights, either separately or in combination with another light. No back-up lights shall be continuously lighted when the motor vehicle is in forward motion. (B) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. Amended by 128th General Assembly File No. 9, HB 1, ยง 101.01, eff. 10/16/2009. Effective Date: 01-01-2004 Wonder if I even have to have back up lights. Would the DMV know?
I'm not sure you do. There were still lots of cars without them as late as the mid-60's. At one time they were optional.
How will they know if you don't have them short of catching you driving around town backwards. I think the solution for the lights with a floor shifter depends on the shifter. I think the aftermarket shifters have the switch as an option, might check that out.
well I got leaf springs, idler arms (think thats what they are called), ball joints, and rust holes in the inner fenders and driver floor board to worry about first. Good news is my cowls seem good as all the water I poured in (thanks to rayzor for the suggestion) ended up on my garage floor.
it slides onto the...shifter shaft...comming out of the transmission. there are two threaded holes in the transmission case (all) that this mounts to. ...there are 4 wires on it. (2) in/out starter relay...(2) in/out backup lights. ...... ...C-4 neutral saftey/ back up light switch...
