Had a car offered to me but I really dont want it or have the place for it. Looking for opinions on value. It sits outside and we've had a very wet winter so far. The carpet is dry so the cowl is good. It has a 6 cyl with auto. Runs and drives great. Interior is very nice factory bucket seat with deluxe door panels and arm rest. Seats are excellent shape. Dash has 1 crack. Carpet could use replacement. Door panels are nice but do show their age with the wrinkles. It is converted to 5 lug and disk brake front. The tires and wheels have less than 1000 miles. The hood is toast but the molding is good. Standard Maverick grill with medallion intact. Bumpers need to be redone. Floors and trunk appear to be solid. I looked down in the trunk drops and did not find any major rust. Car has Grabber spoiler. Has some rust in front of the rear wheel on the right side. See picture. This seems to be the worst part of the car and I dont consider it that bad. Front fenders and doors are very nice. No rust. It wouldnt take much to get this car ready for paint. So what do you think????
$3k = good starting point for NICE condition -$100 carpet -$400 for rust repair -$500 for paint condition 3 guzzinta 9, 3 or so times, multiplied by the month of manufacture, carry the double naught-naught, divide by year the state was added to the Union, carry the spare =..... $2000 + a 12-pack of Budweiser (not necessarily in that order) you asked.
Being a 6 cylinder and rusty I would have a hard time giving 2,000 for it. 1,500 sounds about right to me. If it was a V8 with no rust, we could start thinking about 2,500.
IMO this is a 2k to 2.5k car. 3 might be a good place to start as a seller. It would get you the 2k you are entitled to, or the 2.5k that amounts to full retail, while still making the buyer feel like he won negotiations by getting a price break of 500-1k. Now, as a cheapskate, I would offer 1500 and try to meet around the 2k point before I walked away. I was just a day short of getting a V8 car in better shape, for 750, so I know that there are still deals out there. I was a little miffed at missing that 72. It had a rebuilt 302 with some very mild perf add-ons, fresh paint of about 25' quality, ducktail, G/M discs, and a 57 9" rear. The car was only about a mile from me, and the guy knew that I would buy it, but lost my business card. Dave Edit: I really get sick remembering it had a decent Grabber hood too...
I think the interior adds some value to the car. My top price would be $2250.00 here in the midwest. Coastal prices might command more. Dan
nice... but here in Cali no way 3K! maybe $2k then again i don't buy mavericks unless they are under 1k
I know there are some who wouldnt pay over $1k for almost any car. Thats ok, I asked for opinions. But I'm thinking that any decent small bumper car that runs great and is 90% rust free is worth at least $1000 to $1200. Sure there are deals out there but they are getting fewer and further inbetween. Add the 5 lug & disc brakes, $800 worth of wheels and tires, spoiler, and a very decent bucket seat interior and I guess I'm thinking more along the lines of what Ebay could bring. I am just deciding if there would be enough profit to pick it up and make it worth while. If I was in the market for one to keep, it would have been on my trailer this morning. Any more opinions?
I paid $600 for mine, then added stuff to make it cost me $5000. Ugly as hell, but kicks new Mustangs to the curb It will probably cost me 10K before I get the body, paint, and interior to look presentable. Hood is toast??? It looks like surface rust, on a straight hood. Unless there is something underneath that the picture doesn't show. I would give around $1500 for it, just for all the useable parts, or the base for a rebuild and 347ci install. EDIT--I looked at all the pictures again...1) if there is a stereo to work that speaker, you might add a little $$$ to it. 2) that pink paintjob is kinda growing on me...I think I like it (insert rainbow smilie here )
