I am so excited, first off went to the Casino this last weekend and hit for $600!! now to most that doesn't seem like a lot but to 1 pennie per line pennie slot player starting with saw buck ..that is a big deal. See my problem is I can't save very well so big chunks of money mean, I get stuff done on the Comet!!

A bit of background, bought this car 10 years ago after it had sat 10 years 2/3 of it's life was sitting!! Anyway when I bought the car the guy sadi there is a problem with the tranny doesn't shift right, so Not knowing better I assumed that at some point I would have a major rebuild due, about 2 years ago I discovered the kick down linkage was rusted in the kicked down position, w-40 and Vi Ola it shifts fine, but leaks like a sapgetti strainer, Well I got it fixed today and the guy who inspected sadi the tranny looks really GOOD!! put new collant lines on it, new seals, new trann mount rubber and now one less thing needing work now!!

shop around guys i paid less than half what the first shop told me it would be, anyway Picking her up tonight still needs valve work, and of course the body work, but mechanically I fell pretty sure to drive her anywhere!!!

Side note driving down near the Iowa State Fairgrounds In Dead Moines turned off on a street I never take, look straight across the street sitting in a Mexican Car lot near the back, is a mint conditon '74 2 door Comet Brown Halo top Bronze in color, looks like with an LDO package, perfect shape Vinyl Bucket Seats (the tall head rests )were missing and the carpet needs shampooed, but this thing had a spotless engine bay, and guys this is orig body work, and it is completely rust free not sure if it is for sale, it was sitting back away from the the other cars and had current Iowa tags on it, I'm thinking mexican car lot,.. hmm maybe this is a Texas or AZ car. I really want to buy this car but don't have the cash for it. I didn 't have a way to get picts but if I can sometiem i will poost them, this thing is a find!

Shoulda left a note on the car. I once did that and the guy (Mexican) called me back. We met and the car was in really good shape and unmolested. He told me that it wasnt for sale but since I was wanting it and he had another car, how much would I give him? I told him $500. He said $800. Well a couple of weeks goes by and I had some hard times, was young and didnt really think seriously (due to the age lol). He calls me later and asked if I still wanted it...I said yes but was having trouble coming up with the cash, he said $600 and I could pick it up, never had the money and he moved by the time I did. :( Had working ac too...

I had the same thing happen to me on a 35 Ford tudor sedan one time. Lady that owned it, her husband had bought it to restore, started taking it apart, and then ran off with a younger women [I guess the call of nature was more than the car bug, lol]. I looked at the car, made an offer, and she declined, saying that she was keeping it for her son. A few months later, she called me and said her son didn't want it, and I could have it for what I had offered. Problem was, I had done already bought something else, and didn't have the money anymore. I was sick about it, a complete very easily restoreable 35 for $600. Now I would beg, borrow or sell to get a deal like that, but I was young then and not quite as smart....:tiphat:

Yeah I should have left a note, that is literally the only other 2 door Comet I have seen around here, I've seen very few Mavs for that matter less than 6, the only other Comet I have seen was a 4 door and my ex wife bought it as her first car back in '83. she paid $650 for it drove it 2 years and sold it for $650 with antifreeze in the oil.
