It seems that the genious before me ran like a 12g wire to the +post on the battery and into the car to power the tach, cig lighter, and temp gauge. In between he had a filter and fuse box. Since I'm there and want to clean everything up behind the dash is there anyone with suggestions? Should I just tap a wire thats already in the car to run everything off of? or just try and run the wire to the battery with the stock wires and make it look as stock as possible? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

the most proper way to do wire it up, would likely be to run a wire to the fuse box, with a "clip" going to a constant 12v... hard to explain.. easy to do.. the guy who had my mav ran a 12v wire directly to the pos terminal on the battery.. it arced out and screwed all kinds stuff up...but anyways.. there is an extra hole in the firewall for such things.. there is on mine anyways.

How ever it is done, use fuses close to the battery source or risk losing the car to fire.
One way is to use good grade inline fuse holders with large eye connectors that will fit onto the starter solenoid battery side post and run to your equipment.
Place fuses 'just' larger than the current draw for max protection.

In my car, since a Maverick is very limited in places to pick up accessory power, I added an 8 AWG wire from the battery that supplies a 30 amp relay that is switched on by the ignition. The relay in turn supplies an auxillary fuse block I mounted under the package tray. Makes connecting new stuff a lot easier.
