I finished my rebuild last May but realized I should have rebuilt the trans when I had it all out but I did not. So I will get a manual and do it this winter. Since I took the motor out first during the rebuild and I will be leaving it in this time, and since my memory is fading, what do I need to do to pull the trans out with the motor in. General step by step is appreciated. Are there any heavy duty rebuild kits out there? Also will give me a chance to put in a new torque converter I should have put in when I rebuilt it. Thanks
turn the heat on...and after reaching 72 degrees... #-1...put car on lift. #-2...drain transmission fluide...(loosen pan bolts) #-3...put transmission jack under transmission. #-4...take driveshaft loose. #-5...remove linkage/speedo cable. #-6... remove dipstick tube. #-7...remove crossmember. #-8...remove starter...(Batt. disconected) #-8...remove torque converter nuts/bolts. #-9...unplug vac. line from modulator #-10...remove bellhouseing bolts...(all) there are lineup pins so be carefull not to break the bellhousing when getting them loose. if i have left anything out, someone can fill it in... be carefull and safe...you have all winter...:Handshake
2 problems: No lift,No tranny jack! The old fashion way jack stands & drop it on your chest. Good Luck!
