Hey all, quick question, my windshield wiper linkage makes a horrible clanking sound every time the wipers operate, I found the area it is loose. I was wondering if there are some bushings that should be installed that may have fallen out, and if so where I might source them?

    He Phil:
On the windshield wiper arm bushings .. Advanced Auto Parts has a "Variety Pak" that sells for $ 3.99 and the part number is # 49447 . There are several types of bushings in the pak for Fords, Chevys, Etc. This might be an option
    for you .
I wish you success . ( This might be an opportune time to change the Wiper MOTOR also while you're in there..)
I changed mine on the '70 just in case. Forty plus years is a long time for any electrical device on a car so I figured
it was due .. I wish you success.

Thanks Chip! That's very helpful, I'll have to pick up the kit, it will be nice to operate the wipers without scaring my passengers to death.

Are you able to check the bushings without removing the heater box?

I can barely see one linkage with the gauge cluster removed. I just reached up under the dash and felt it with my hand. I have to do the heater core too so I might as well try to remove the assembly when i do that. I assume most of the dash has to come out to service it?
