so right now i have p195/75r14's on my car and its time for a new set... so im wondering if i can get em any wider than they are now???
You can get your stock wheels widened at this place, they added 2" to each of mine: www.weldcraftwheels.com
im not getting my wheels widened... i barely have enough money for tires, just wondering how much wider i can get with the stock wheels....
You need to find out if your wheels are 4-1/2" wide or if they are 6-inches. If they are 4-1/2" (my stock wheels were 4-1/2" on my '73), then you already have pretty much the widest tire that you can practically use. You can go as wide as 225/60 on a 6-inch rim (but 215 would look better)...
Wider My first Comet, that I had in the 80s, came with 14x4.5 inch rims. I managed to get a pair of 14x7s from a station wagon, and ran 245-60s out back with no problems. 195-70s were on the front and I believe that actually was a bit wider than recommended for such a narrow rim. Of course, this will only work if you have 5 bolt axles.
how come it'll only work with 5 bolt axles? and did you have any problems while you were running the wider tires?
You may have to make a trip to your local junk yard to search for some wider wheels......I believe I saw some in the for sale section on here
well i dont wanna buy new wheels then have to buy tires too, so i guess ill just have to get the same size.... anyway, smaller tire=easier burnout
