I finally got to put the vac lines in when I received the air cleaner assembly for my '77 Mav with 250. Got the rebuilt carb on it and finally got it up and running.

    Two questions--
    1. The Mitchell manual printout shows a "Wide Open Throttle Valve" that appears to be strapped to the A/C line right at the front of the valve cover. Does anyone know where I can get one of those or whether it is needed. Right now, I have a tee in the line between the EGR valve port, the PVS port, and the venturi port on the carb(Carter YFA).

    2. The Mitchell manual printout also shows the distributor vac advance(single port) going to a tee that connects to the intake manifold port(at the side of the intake) with the other port of the tee going to right at the top of the carb(passenger side) where there is a port just below where the air breather sits. This doesn't make sense to me. Why would the vac advance be connected so close to the intake vacuum? And why would the other connection go to the top of the carb?

I dont know if I am right or not but the wide open valve should shut off the ac clutch when you go "wide open" and most of the time you have a ported vacuum switch that redirects vacuum when the engine warms up. I would check for vacuum from carb both at idle and off idle to get a better idea as to what you want or need.
