Do they make a 1" or is the largest a 7/8?

Someone here said that they had ADDCO custom-make them a 1-1/8" front bar for their Maverick. I don't know the price but I imagine it was expensive. I'd like to do that also.......someday. Right now I have the optional 7/8" bar. My car actually handles pretty decent, but it won't handle like the '80s and '90s Camaros & Firebirds....they have HUGE sway-bars on them...

I just purchased 1 1/8 bar. I havnt mounted it so I dont know how well it fits. Its a "Grab a track" and I found an add in a Mustang mag....
Dont be fooled by big sway bars on Camaros & firebirds they are hollow tubes not solid bars.

A sway bars strength is more determined by it's diameter than its mass.
The material being stressed when a bar is twisted as sway bars are is just the outer layer. That is why driveshafts are hollow too.

Chris Stout AKA radmav had the 1 1/8" front and 7/8" rear custom made by addco.

    Grab a Track Bar

Hey, was the Grab-a-Track bar for a Maverick or Mustang. If for a Mustang, what year and how did it fit?

A sway bar is just a torsion spring and not only is mass and density important, but characterics of the metal as well.

The grab a track bar was for a Maverick although it came from a mustang parts dealer. I still havent mounted it yet, my front end is still apart. I should have my upper control arms by the end of the week, then I will put it back togather. I am will probabily remove the old sway bar today and compair bars. I was looking at it last night and it looks like a good fit but I am still not sure.

actually hollow tubes are better.. lighter and like courier11sec said its all about the outer layer. but please let us know how the thing fits (y)

I checked the fit of the swaybar today and it isnt going to fit. I called the company and it looks like they sold me a bar for a 65 comet not a 75 comet. They are going to return the bar. after some more checking we found a maverick/comet bar but its only 7/8" front and 3/4" rear, also the maverick bar is more money $130.

Only the later model F-body bars were hollow. My '83 T/A has SOLID bars which are
1-1/4" front and 7/8" rear. I think it would be great to have bigger bars on the Maverick, no one ever tells me the price of the custom bars though, and I haven't called ADDCO yet...

its been just long enuf ago that I cant remember the exact price i paid for my bars from addco, didnt seem that bad to me at the time,I've had them on a good 8 plus years now. my set came with 3 different types of end links as well , so you could set it up for your intended use and application.I've been very happy with them.

Either from a '75-'77 Maverick/Comet, if you can find one, or from ADDCO or PST. I think even JC Whitney sells them...
