Just out of curiosity, who here thinks that an aluminum 6 gauge panel (2 larger openings, 4 smaller) for aftermarket gauges is a good idea? Supposing the gauge panel would utilize the stock location and look just as good, following the same dash curve and upper lip. Precision machine produced/formed. Just running with an idea here and wanted some feedback before I get to the end-zone. Thanks guys, Eric
Let's see it...I am pretty sure you would have plenty of buyers if the price wasn't astronomical. I would take one immediately!!!
I have been planning a gauge pod replacement as well. Go for it, if it looks good it will save me some work.
I've been fooling around with one myself. Right now, I'm using cardboard and fiberglass. I'd like an aluminum one. I'd paint it dash color, though.
Yeah...I don't think that cardboard one would hold up very long. It's gonna look terrible when you paint it too. :16suspect
The old geezer didn't even see the word fiberglass. Well, Im not flabergasted by it nor suprised either.
You guys are funny. Yeah, but, to answer the first question: because of the numerous variations of disireable finishes, the panel would be left for the buyer to customize (paint, clearcoat, brushed, etc.). Also, the price would not be astronomical, as I can get the metal wholesale and have the equipment readily available to me. I am, actually, a fabrication mechanic at a sheet metal company. We don't do a lot of automotive applications, but, I'm trying to get the owner to bite off on this idea. I just need to demonstrate a demand for it. Thanks again and keep the feedback coming, Eric
