Trying to figure out which one I really need. Didn't know I had so many options. I know I am going to have a supercharger and will have nitrous on the car at some point as well. I know some use the MSD 6 BTM which is close to $400 but that would be pretty good. I want to get an MSD product. The digital 7 was also recommended to me.

What does the digital 7 have that I need over the 6 BTM? I found this:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-6462 which is the 6-BTM, it's not digital but it's $300 cheaper than the digital 7.

    MSD Ignition 6462 - MSD 6-BTM CD Ignitions: $363
SD Ignition 7535 - MSD Programmable Digital-7 CD Ignitions: $697

i believe that when you step up to the 7 series you time each cylinder individually, could be wrong though.i would go with the btm

one of Bryant's buddies has been using it for street use, apparently with no problem.

its survived the drive from mamoth to san diego. it needs to be inside the car away from heat.
mo, the more i think about it, get the 6btm and get a seperate timeing retard box for the nitrous when you do it.

yea, I've been leaning towards that too . . . I don't think I'll be adding that nitrous right away so I'm better off just getting the retard box later.

347 + 6-71 blower + n2o? how fast do you want to go? :) or is the nitrous going to be used to suppress detonation? but anywho im enjoying your car build! edit:now that i reread the thread i see that your going to use the module to retard timing , so the n2o will just be a power adder, whoo! :D

close . . . it's a 331, 174 (6-71 probably not gonna give me all the power I want down low) and the N2O is correct. I'm not too worried about detonation, I should be able to control that since I won't be running crazy boost. But, cooling the air with the nitrous should free up some horsepower and certainly increase it if I really put a good shot in there at the track. I'm pretty excited . . . Bryant is the evil genius behind all this, let's see how crazy he's feeling by the time we get this done!

I got an email from some dude at MSD and he recommended the 6AL2. I know someone else here runs that one. Here's the full email:
    ----------
The best possible unit for that application is our Programmable 6AL-2. This will have provisions for a boost timing retard as well as the step retard for the nitrous application when you decide to install it.*This is a fully programmable box and will require the use of a laptop or our handheld programmer to set the different functions.*We do have other options, but nothing that will have all the functions built in that you will require.

I have never ran the 6al-2, But i have used a BTM. The BTM in my opinion is, How should i say this" OLE school stuff, It is very slow to retard and it is even slower to give the timing back. And it is either all or nothing. Where with a programmable you can adjust the curve to fit your motor and situation. And the Digital 7 will work for street use, But it must be in free air or it will overheat and shut down (ask me how i know) But after cool down it will fire rite back up as if nothing happened. I do recommend that you get something programmable, It doesn't matter which one, I just have experience with the 7.
