Hie to all . It's been a while and since my last time here I have changed the carb, radiator, and starter & just finished the painting and upholstery. It look great o sorry, no pictures this time, but soon). Now, I want to change my current wheels & tires (215/75/14) so it can look better, but, guess what, I don’t know what kind and size of wheels & tires my car can use… I mean, I see your car’s pictures and they look awesome , and I’m looking for something similar. Any suggestions?
Hello pichonxtc, It depends on what size rim your going to get. I have just got my hands on a set of 17x8 with 4.5 inch back space. The back space is off about a 1/4 or so, but I will have to use a spacer. Let me know what size rim & I will tell you the tire size. Try to stay with a rim that has 3 to a 4 inch back spacing.
Camtemple: Nice! Do you have any other angles of the rears. I have planned on 255s for the rear of mine for a while, but have never seen it. I experimented with 275s lately, but they look a little too off balance for what I plan to run up front, height wise. Thanks Dave
That's a mean looking color. I have not seen one that color. Do you think you have enough room to run a 255/50 on the rear
Whoa Camtemple!! Looks great, I think I will get either 15" or 16" Rim, depends on the tire size... I liked how it looks the 255/60 and 235/60... for a good pairs of Rims, how much sould I pay?
Thanks everyone for the comments very much apprciated, yeah the 255/60/150 and 235/60/15 fit pretty much perfectly, wheel spacers in the rare help fit on the bigger tires, th 255/50 would fit as well seeing as its just a lower profile tire and not anywider, I don't have any other pics of other angles yet, I can take some but, that probably won't be for another couple weeks. My rims arn't chrome, they're just polished aluminum, but i could probably get them chromed if i really really wanted to. For the rims and tire combo it was about $1500canadian. The rims I bought were diffinately not the most expensive out there but they do the job well in my. I'd suggest if your looking for rims check out local buy and sell adds sometimes people sell good conditon rims for dirt cheap.
I'm waiting on a couple of parts for my Comet. but i already have the wheels. They were about $1000 for 17 inche wheels. I think I might try to put 255/50 on the rear, but not sure if it will fit.
they should probably fit, depending on the back spacing the tires might rub, i'd suggest picking up some wheelspacers before putting them on. Also I'm not sure if your going to drive the mav down to the tire shop or not but I personally woudl suggest you do. That way you can try diffrent tire sizes. if the 255/50's don't fit try 245/50's and they'll probably fit with out to much problems, its amazing how much room is actually under those wheel wells. Two friends of mine have fairlanes a '63 and a '62 and they have troubles fitting 235's behind them. So yeah i personally wouldn't see you having a huge problem fitting the 255's with wheel spacers(depending if you'll need them or not), Watch them for rubbing up against the leaf springs, thats why i had to put on the wheel spacers, also before i had put my new exhust on I had it running behind the rear tire through the leaf and that caused me a problem as well. let me know how it works out Also if they stick out to far you could allways cut a bit off of the lip on the fender as well, it'll give you a bit more room to play with
I was looking at Summit mag last night and I think they were 15in rims for some decent ones were around 100 each then tires were about 100 for front then for huge tires it was 200 but they had cheaper ones.
Ok... I've been doing my homework (thank's to you guys), so If I want a 15' rims in order to use a 255/60 & 235/60 tires, what dimensions the rims must be?... 15' x 7" 5-100/108 or 15' x 7" 5-100/108 (I whant them silver )??
ups!, this are the full dimensions that I'm asking 15' x 8" 5-100/108 40 or 15' x 7" 5-100/108 40 ???
