I have a 72 MAV 302-4 wheel drum. I want to get 15 x 8 wheels. I have 5 bolts. Where I am confused is with such things as "back spacing", "wheel bolt pattern" and "offset". I want to order on line from Summit and they need this info. I dont want to get something that wont work. What do you think?

Here is a link so you can see what I am saying:

    Hey
Backspacing is the distance where the wheel meets the hub to the outside of the inner rim.I think you can have no more than 4 1/2 inches. The bolt pattern is how the holes are spaced and offset is how deep the wheels are from the outside. Guys feel free to correct me if I am wrong but I think I got it right.

your wheels are 5X4 1/2 pattern. backspacing would depend on what size tires you are using. you can ask what some of the others are using on here. my street cars all have the stock rims on them for now. :)

click on backspacing under the "HOW TO ARTICLES" or click the page numbers....it will bring up a pdf, but it will, in complete detail, tell you what you need to know...and provide pictures of it.....

make sure your pdf reader works though....

Offset is how far off center the flange that fits against the brake rotor or drum is. Positive offset is when this flange is toward the outside of the wheel, Negative is when it's toward the inside. Most wheel mfg's go by the backspacing though. Positive offset wheels are mostly for front wheel drive & late model cars. You're car needs negative offset wheels, which are mostly refered to now as "pickup truck wheels"
