hey guys i was wondering what this is called i was checking front end and found that this has alot of play to it at the rubber bushing is that normal? please let me know thanks
sorry guys i tried to put a pic on here but didnt go through yet ill try again just in case i dont get it on i think its the idler arm its on the right side bolted to frame and is it hard to change?
It's 'normal'. It happens when things wear out. It can be unsafe to a point and it will cause your tires to wear oddly and the car to handle like a lush. Exactly what is loose? If you have the car off the ground completely please note that some things can move a little. Explain exactly where you see excessive play.
I asked the same question a long time ago. Sounds like your talking about the the idler arm. It costs around $45 and takes about 30 minutes to change. There are probably other parts such as the tie rod ends and ball joints that are worn if the idler arm is. At least thats how my '74 was.
